Bran Castle is a historic 14th-century fortress situated on the border between Transylvania and Wallachia in Romania. Perched dramatically on a cliffside, it is globally famous as the primary inspiration for "Dracula's Castle." While it is celebrated as a major cultural landmark, its history leans much more into royal residency and medieval defense than vampire folklore.

The Princely Court of Târgoviște (Curtea Domnească in Romanian) is a historic architectural complex in the city of Târgoviște, Romania. For over three centuries (from the early 15th century until 1714), it served as the most important political, military, and cultural center of the historical principality of Wallachia. Long before Bucharest became the permanent capital, Târgoviște was the seat of power for dozens of Romanian voivodes (princes), most notably Vlad the Impaler (Vlad Țepeș), who is historically linked to the site. Today, the ruins form the best-preserved medieval court complex in Romania and function as an open-air national museum.
