The Union Buildings located in South Africa’s capital city Pretoria, is the official seat of the national government and the site where Nelson Mandela was inaugurated the first democratically elected president in 1994. There is a nine-metre-tall statue of him with his arms outstretched to symbolise his embrace of the whole nation.

Designed to give visitors a sense of the apartheid policy of segregation that was enforced in South Africa from 1948 until 1994, the world-renowned Apartheid Museum has a new exhibition documenting Mandela’s struggle against racial discrimination.

We stop at the FNB Stadium which hosted the 2010 Soccer World Cup Final. It was also the venue where Nelson Mandela made his first appearance after being released in 1990 and also made his last public appearance in 2010.

Mandela House is the house where Nelson Mandela lived with his family, located in the most prestigious street in the world Vilakazi Street. Mandela donated the house to the Soweto Heritage Trust in 1997 and it operates as a museum and for those who want to pay tribute to him.

Visit the Hector Pietersen Museum; where you will get an overview of the events of the 1976 Soweto Student Uprising. The memorial was launch by Nelson Mandel in 1992 to commemorate the students who lost their lives and those part of the march.
