Start with an early morning pick-up from your accommodation in Cape Town or Stellenbosch. Usually between ±6am to 8am, subject to the pickup route, traffic and your pickup address. From Cape Town follow the scenic Overland route to Cape Agulhas. Drive along the breathtaking Clarence Drive, with sweeping ocean views at every turn. Wander through the fynbos-rich Harold Porter Botanical Gardens, then visit the Stony Point penguin colony in Betty's Bay.

Nestled within the UNESCO-listed Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, Harold Porter Botanical Gardens showcase the rich diversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom. Explore waterfalls, ancient forest pockets, fynbos, and coastal dunes, with a short walk leading to a secluded waterfall and beautiful mountain views.

Meet the endangered African penguins at Stony Point Nature Reserve in Betty's Bay, home to one of South Africa's most successful breeding colonies. Watch these charming birds waddle along the rocky shoreline while learning about the conservation efforts helping to protect them. Keep an eye out for playful rock hyrax (dassies) and nesting cormorants that share this beautiful coastal habitat. If the boardwalk is closed due to maintenance or severe weather, you'll still enjoy excellent penguin viewing from the nearby beach and coastline.

Discover Hermanus, famous for its dramatic cliff paths, vibrant local art, and some of the world's best land-based whale watching. Wander a section of the scenic coastal trail through fragrant fynbos, taking in panoramic ocean views and the rugged coastline. Between June and November, you may be lucky enough to spot southern right whales breaching close to shore. Afterwards, explore the town's boutique shops, cafés, and restaurants, renowned for serving fresh local seafood and the day's catch.

At Cape Agulhas, where two mighty oceans meet, discover the southernmost tip of Africa. Capture the moment at the iconic Tip of Africa marker, wander the rugged shoreline, and admire the historic lighthouse standing watch over the coast. As the sun dips below the horizon, the sky comes alive with colour, bringing a magical end to the day.

Wake up to the sound of the ocean at Cape Agulhas and take a moment to breathe in the fresh sea air, after breakfast travel east along the Garden Route toward Sedgefield, Wilderness, taking in the dramatic coastal scenery. Visit Garden Route Game Lodge for a thrilling 4x4 safari with a wildlife ranger. Spot up to four of the Big Five animals; including lions, elephants, rhinos, and buffalos, and often cheetahs, along with giraffes, zebras, and antelope. If you’re lucky, you’ll capture close sightings, with well-timed pauses at each stop to enjoy your real-life NatGeo wildlife moment.

In Wilderness, glide gently along the Kaaimans River for a peaceful canoe trip, surrounded by indigenous forest and vibrant birdlife, letting the gentle current carry you through this tranquil landscape.

End the day with an overnight stay in Sedgefield, a tranquil coastal town known as Africa’s slowest town. Sunset strolls along Myoli Beach (or Wilderness if you are in the guesthouse) and the town’s easygoing, slow-lane way of life provide the perfect opportunity to unwind and soak in the serene surroundings.

Start the last day in the heart of the African bush. Another day, another safari… yes, that’s right - you get another chance to spot Africa’s wild animals roamin freely in their natural habitat. This time, you’ll explore the larger, more remote Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, where wilderness stretches across 4,200 hectares. Hop on an open-top 4x4 vehicle with a game ranger who knows the park inside out and loves sharing fascinating stories along the way. Keep your eyes peeled for giraffes, white rhinos, kudu, lions, elephants, zebras, wildebeest, and more... With the reserve’s vastness, every turn feels like a new adventure, and each stop brings the luck of unexpected wildlife sightings, and another chance to tick off any you might have missed the day before. After lunch, journey back to end the trip with an evening drop-off at your Cape Town or Stellenbosch accommodation between +/- 7pm to 9pm, subject to traffic and your drop-off address.
