Tokyo Station was designed by Tatsuno Kingo who is from Saga Prefecture. He is a famous architect who designed the building of the Bank of Japan as well. Tokyo Station was originally constructed in 1914. However, it was heavily damaged by air raids during World War Ⅱ. After the war, it was partially restored. In 2012, it was fully restored to its original design. Additionally in 2017, the new station plaza was completed.

Gyoko Dori is a 190m long street that connects Tokyo Station's Marunouchi Central Exit with Uchibori Dori in front of the Imperial Palace. The name comes from the road that the Emperor used to go out on pilgrimages.
