2-Day Luxury Safari from Cape Town to Gondwana Game Reserve

We leave the city behind and follow the coastal Clarence Drive. It’s not just a drive, it’s one of the most scenic routes in the country, winding between dramatic mountains and the open sea.

We stop at Stony Point Nature Reserve, one of the best places to see African Penguins up close, without the crowds. The boardwalk takes you right through their natural habitat.

Arrive in Hermanus, a laid back seaside town famous for Southern Right Whales (in season – July to November). You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy lunch at a sea-facing café, browse local craft shops, or take a relaxed walk along the Cliff Path for possible whale sightings.

Reach the legendary Cape Agulhas, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Explore the iconic lighthouse and take a photo at the official southernmost point of Africa. Optional: Lunch at a local restaurant in Agulhas (own cost).

From Agulhas, we travel inland through the scenic Overberg region, a stretch of peaceful farmlands, vineyards, and rolling hills. By late afternoon, we arrive at Gondwana Private Game Reserve, one of the top Big Five safari destinations on the Garden Route. Upon arrival, check into your 5 star luxury safari lodge, featuring elegant suites, private decks, and stunning views. Unwind and soak in the tranquility of the bush, or explore the lodge’s world-class facilities.

As the sun sets, head out on your first open-vehicle game drive, led by expert rangers. This is your chance to spot elephants, lions, giraffes, and other iconic African wildlife as they become active in the cooler evening air.

Dinner at Gondwana Restaurant (Included) After the drive, enjoy a gourmet dinner at the lodge’s on-site restaurant. Note: Dinner is included in your package. Drinks are at your own expense. Early Morning Game Drive: Rise early and head out for your final guided game drive — one of the best times to witness the African bush come alive. In the cool morning air, wildlife is most active, and the chances of spotting elusive species like lions, rhinos, elephants, and cheetahs are high. This is your last opportunity to tick off any Big Five animals you may have missed the day before.

Breakfast & Check-Out: After your safari, return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast, freshly prepared and served in the main restaurant. Enjoy a moment to relax and soak in the last views of the wilderness before checking out of your 5-star luxury lodge.

Return Drive to Cape Town. We begin our journey back to Cape Town, driving through scenic mountain passes, rolling farmlands, and stretches of untouched countryside. This relaxed return route offers one last chance to take in the landscapes of the Western Cape. Expect to arrive in Cape Town by late afternoon or early evening, where your 2-day safari getaway comes to an end with unforgettable memories and incredible photos to take home.
