Your first stop is the Mitsui Kamogawa Villa, a beautifully refined traditional residence set within a peaceful garden. This elegant villa offers a rare glimpse into the craftsmanship and aesthetics of classical Japanese architecture. From there, wander into the ancient serenity of Shimogamo Shrine, a "huidden" UNESCO site. This shrines is wonderfully calm, with mossy paths and towering trees all around. After a short bus ride, continue to Imamiya Shrine, a quiet and charming spot beloved by locals for its blessings of health and longevity. Your final highlight is the Daitoku-ji Temple Complex, a vast “maze” of Zen sub-temples. You’ll focus on Daisen-in, home to one of Japan’s most celebrated dry landscape gardens. Simple, profound, and deeply meditative, it's the ideal place to conclude your cultural immersion before you part ways nearby.

World Heritage Shimogamo Shrine Private Tour

The first of the Grand Shrines of the Government after Ise Jingu Shrine. When welcoming royal families and other distinguished guests from around the world, as well as government dignitaries, a priest will escort them to this special place. They will guide you to places that are not open to the public on a daily basis, such as the throne in the Shimbuden, where the Emperor sits when he arrives, the “Ura-Kairo” where you can see the main shrine from the back, the main shrine, the O-takuden, and other places, or conduct special formal visits. This tour offers VIP treatment, with a priest guiding you through the shrine with commentary. After purifying ourselves at the water closet, we will go up to the Reiden (prayer hall), read out the names of the participants to God, and pray only for the tour participants. At the end of the tour, tea and sweets will be served at a rest area, and a souvenir called “omodori” will be offered as part of our original special plan.

The guide also knows well about the healthy food to get inner beauty as her mother is macrobiotic cooking teacher. As her grandmother is a real Geisha, she also knows a lot of Kyoto traditional life and culture. The guide has worked at Epcot, Walt Disney World in Florida, her English is good enough to communicate.
