Banteay Samre was built in the distinctive Angkor Wat style of construction and art and is a large, relatively low-rise temple. It was built around the same time as Angkor Wat, and the influence can be seen in the towers and railings which strongly resemble the towers of its larger and more famous cousin. The features of Banteay Samre also resemble those of the ancient Khmer temple of Phimai in Thailand. Most of the bas-relief carvings are in very good condition. The Bakong is the first of the large mountain temples in Angkor. It belongs to the Roluos group, build at the end of the 9th century. Lolei temple is one of the temples which make up the Roluos group. It was built in the 9th century and was a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva. It was once an island temple, but the reservoir where it was built has long since been dry. Located around 20km from Siem Reap, Lolei isn’t visited as much as the other temples near Angkor Wat. However, it still gets a large number of visitors each day. If you have the time to visit, it’s definitely one you should go to.
