Upon reaching Phnom Kulen (means mountain of lychees), we proceed to the two waterfalls where guests can take a swim. Try not to be too alarmed by the small fish that may nibble at your dead skin, similar to what they do in the fish baths in town. There is no charge for this at the waterfall.

Banteay Srei goes by several names, “Lady temple”, “Tiny temple”, “Pink temple”. It is quite different. Originally called Tribhuvanamahesvara, the name Banteay Srei is a modern one, meaning "citadel of the women".

After lunch we proceed to Ta Nei, Ta Phrom and Banteay Kdei temples. Ta Phrom gained some popularity because of the old trees that have intertwined their roots into the masonry of the temple. The temple was consequently used in the filming of the Tomb Raider movie starring Angelina Jolie. We return to town about 3pm.

This relatively unresearched remote area has no towns and only a small village in a cleared forest nearby. Koh Ker was once an ancient capital of Cambodia. The Koh Ker complex is on the Chhork Koki highland. It was built by King Jayavaraman IV (AD 928-942). Koh Ker temple is 35 meters high, and its design resembles a seven-stepped stupa. It was built to worship Treypuvanesvara, the god of happiness. So far, 96 temples have been found around Koh Ker.

After Koh Ker, we grab a bite to eat, and head back towards town. On the way, we stop at the ruins of Beng Mealea temple; a Hindu temple. Beng Mealea is largely unrestored, with trees and thick brush thriving amidst its towers and courtyards and many of its stones lying in great heaps. For many years it was unpopular due being difficult to reach (poor road) and also being 77 km from Siem Reap. After seeing Beng Mealea, settle back for a long drive back to town. We arrive back in town about 6:30pm.
