We will have brunch and set out for our afternoon game drive, to familiarize ourselves with our surroundings. We will enjoy a light breakfast before we head-out to Savuti. The Savuti area boundries lie between Okavango Delta on the west and Chobe National Park on the eastern side. It is said to be one of Africa’s best known big game areas. Savuti is a place of charm & immense beauty it boasts one of the greatest concentrations of animals in Southern Africa. It is best known for it’s captivating channel, it runs a distance of roughly 100km from the Chobe River through a gap in the sand-ridge and up to the Mababe Depression. Savuti is also famous for its predators; particularly for the lion and spotted hyena populations. Birding is also a popular activity in this area (be sure to carry a pair of binoculars); you can spot species such as: the national bird the Kgori & secretary birds can be sighted trotting about the vast Savuti marsh. We will stop for lunch and learn a bit more on the landscapes of Savuti’s desert-like landscape, characterized by it’s loose, hot sand. Undoubtedly it is the interaction between lion and elephant that is the most interesting aspect of Savuti. The marsh is prime cheetah country, and in the wet season it is not unusual to have the wild dog hunting here in Savuti.
