What's first thing you'd want see in China? We bet it's the giant panda. Chunky, slow, and irresistibly cute—they're loved worldwide. As China's "national treasure" and "living fossil," the panda has existed over 8 million years and is a Class I protected species. But you don't need to go to Sichuan. At Shanghai Zoo, you can watch pandas up close—munching bamboo, rolling, and tumbling. Just watching them can fill half a day. The liveliest is "Hefeng," a playful panda who loves performing for visitors. For time-conscious travelers, this offers authentic "national treasure" experience without a long journey—a great way to connect with China's natural heritage. Shanghai Zoo, with over 70 years of history, houses giant pandas alongside rare Chinese species like golden snub-nosed monkeys, South China tigers, and Chinese alligators, plus gorillas, giraffes, and African lions. With nearly 470 species and over 5,000 animals, it's an exceptional place to discover China's unique wildlife.

Zhujiajiao, dubbed the "Venice of the East," offers a different beauty. No noisy water buses—only hand-rowed boats drifting beneath ancient stone bridges. This is not a ticketed attraction, but a living town. Mornings bring elderly residents shopping by the bridge; evenings carry home-cooking aromas. It's this authentic rhythm that leaves the deepest impression. The centerpiece is Fangsheng Bridge—the largest five-arched stone bridge in Shanghai, dating to the Ming Dynasty. From its top, you get a sweeping panorama. To the north lies Beida Street, the best-preserved Ming and Qing architectural street, lined with old storefronts evoking a bygone era. A boat ride is essential. Our itinerary includes a traditional sculling boat, where gentle oars carry you under bridge after bridge. Along the banks, you'll see blue-brick, black-tiled homes with laundry hanging out—a testament to the town's unpretentious life. The unhurried pace is itself the rhythm of Zhujiajiao.
