Gastronomic Gems of Beijing Shared Walking Food Tour

We’ll start at Qianmen, where you’ll see, all in one place, a classical Chinese timber-framed building from 600 years ago, a European-style building from 100 years ago, Beijing’s current tallest skyscraper, and a futuristic robot shop. Then we’ll head to the Food Paradise, a food street that brings together representative dishes from various Chinese provinces. You’ll choose five or six dishes from different regions and sample the quintessential flavors of China within just one hour. After that, I’ll give you an introduction to the history and characteristics of Chinese cuisine, and I’ll also answer some common questions—for example, where the Chinese love of spicy food comes from, and whether Chinese people eat dog meat. Finally, we’ll stroll into Xianyukou Hutong, a lane lined with authentic Beijing snacks, where we can pick one or two treats as our after-meal dessert.
