    One of Okayama’s must-visit attractions, the castle keep clad in black panels is known as the “Ujo”. It is also nicknamed “Golden Ujo” due to its roof adorned with gold leaf tiles. As one of Japan’s Top 100 Castles, the keep was destroyed during World War II but was later rebuilt and designated as an Important Cultural Property. After exploring this historic site, you can enjoy a seasonal fruit parfait at the Ujo Café located on the first floor. Additionally, during spring, summer, and autumn, the castle hosts a nighttime illumination event called “Ujo Lantern Garden”, making it a stunning destination to visit both day and night.
