Why Travelers Love This
Overview
An excursion tour to visit Preah Khan temple, built by the King Jayavarman VII, Preah Khan is, like Ta Prohm, a place of towered enclosures and shoulder-hugging corridors. Unlike Ta Prohm, however, Preah Khan is in a reasonable state of preservation and ongoing restoration efforts should maintain and even improve this situation. Then visit Neak Pean, a fountain built in the middle of a pool and representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain-lake. Pre Rup Temple from the late 10th century building, built by Khmer king RAJENDRAVARMAN II is revered because the boldness of the architectural design is superb.

A visit at Ta Som, a late 12th-century Buddhist temple built by King Jayavarman VII. One of its most striking features is the massive tree engulfing the eastern gate (gopura), creating one of the most iconic and photogenic scenes in the Angkor area. Continue to East Mebon, a 10th-century temple built during the reign of King Rajendravarman II. Originally set on an island in the now-dry East Baray reservoir, the temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. It is renowned for its elegant brick towers and the impressive stone elephants guarding its corners.
