Why Travelers Love This
Beng Mealea was built as a Hindu temple, but some carvings depict Buddhist motifs. Its primary material is sandstone and it is largely unrestored, with trees and thick brush thriving amidst its towers and courtyards and many of its stones lying in great heaps. For years it was difficult to reach, but a road recently built to the temple complex of Koh Ker passes Beng Mealea and more visitors are coming to the site, as it is 77 km from Siem Reap by road.

Our English licensed guide and car will pick you up from your hotel, then go to Visit Beng Mealea temple. Beng Mealea. Along the way, you will be able to admire rural Cambodia. Then you will arrive at the recently discovered temple. The complex is nestled inside a jungle forest and spreads over 1 square kilometer. Unlike Angkor Wat and other temples, this one has been left as it was discovered - with nature working its way through the temple, reclaiming it block by block. There are many secret passages, hidden archways, fallen masonry, perching on top of broken galleries and accessing through gaps in the ruins. On the way back we will visit Bakong Temple is the first temple mountain of sandstone constructed by rulers of the Khmer empire. Preah Ko Temple was the first temple to be built in the ancient and now defunct city of Hariharalaya, some 15 kilometers south-east of the main group of temples at Angkor.
