Your tour begins with a journey to the historic Bo-Kaap, also known as the Cape Malay Quarter. Famous for its brightly colored houses, this vibrant neighborhood is one of the most Instagrammable locations in the world and a favorite for photography lovers. As you explore the area, your expert tour guide will share the rich history and cultural heritage of Bo-Kaap. This experience is not just about photos—it’s also a chance to taste local flavors. Try a traditional koesister, a delicious Cape Malay treat with a soft, cake-like texture, lightly spiced and coated with coconut. You’ll also find a variety of local art galleries, craft shops, and cozy coffee spots, making it a perfect place to browse and pick up unique souvenirs, including authentic spices to take home. Bo-Kaap dates back to the 1760s, when it was established as a settlement for enslaved people brought from Malaysia, Indonesia, and other parts of Africa.
