The ruins of St. Paul's Church are located on St. Paul's Hill. They were built by Portuguese captain Duarte Coelho on the site of the last Malaccan sultan's palace. Coelho built the church as a thank-you gesture for being saved by the Virgin Mary during a storm at sea. The church, now roofless and covered in ferns, was originally named Our Lady of the Annunciation. Despite being in ruins for over 150 years, it remains a serene sanctuary near the remains of A' Famosa Fort, accessible via a steep flight of stairs.
