Thingvellir National Park is a must-see attraction & recognized as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is located on the Golden Circle route . Leaving out Thingvellier National Park , it will drive of almost 45 mins The Strokkur Geysir is the most active geyser in the area, erupting every few minutes & reaching heights of up to 30 meters. What makes Strokkur Geysir unique is its predictability, as it erupts regularly and consistently. Golden Falls It is a two-tiered waterfall that drops approximately 32 meters into a rugged canyon below. The waterfall is fed by Iceland's second largest glacier, the Langjökull, & its water is a stunning turquoise color due to the suspended sediment in the glacial meltwater. One of the unique features of Gullfoss is that it appears to disappear into the earth as it cascades down the two tiers. This illusion is created by the shape of the canyon & the mist that rises from the waterfall. The sound of the water crashing into the canyon is deafening & the mist that rises from the falls creates a beautiful rainbow on sunny days. It is 10 minute drive from Geysir Geothermal Area there are several things to do and see in the surrounding area. For example, visitors can take a hike along the nearby trails that offer stunning views of the waterfall & the surrounding countryside. There is also a visitor center that provides information about the history & geology of the area.
