Originating in the Mao’er Mountains, the Li River was once one of China’s most important waterways, connecting the Yangtze Valley with the Pearl River Delta. Flanked by green karst hills, your tour today will get you out onto the water on a private kayak tour with an expert guide. The kayak tour lasts approximately 3-4 hours including transfers to and from Yangshuo Town. Once you have collected your kayak equipment, you will paddle along easy routes, traveling downstream. Set off from the ancient and peaceful town of Shazi near Yangshuo. Paddle your way south to Shazi bridge. Although the karst formations rise less dramatically as the section between Yangdi and Xingping, this stretch of river is beautifully serene and suffers very little traffic. It is also an excellent opportunity to watch rural riverside life as fisherman work their nets and farmers bring their water buffalo to the river to feast on the water and reeds.
