Hokkaido Shrine is the most important Shinto shrine in Sapporo, located within Maruyama Park and surrounded by beautiful natural forest. Built in 1869, it enshrines the guardian deities of Hokkaido’s development and is a popular spot for both worship and sightseeing. The shrine is especially famous for its cherry blossoms in late April to early May, making it one of the best places in Sapporo to enjoy spring scenery.
