From there, you'll be transferred to your pre-booked hotel in the city. Take this time to relax and settle in after your flight. In the afternoon, we’ll host a pre-trip briefing at our office, where you’ll meet your trekking guide or tour leader. This session is important for final preparations, so feel free to ask any questions about the trek. You'll also be asked to sign a legally binding trip agreement and a non-liability disclaimer form. After the briefing, if time allows, you can explore one of Kathmandu’s cultural landmarks nearby. In the evening, head to Thamel, the lively tourist district known for its diverse restaurants and local shops. It’s the perfect place to enjoy your first Nepali dinner or try international cuisine before your adventure begins.

The day starts early with a visit to the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, located on the banks of the Bagmati River, approximately 5.3 kilometres from Thamel. The drive generally takes around 20 minutes, depending on traffic. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Pashupatinath is one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites in the world and has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Your next destination is Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world and another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Believed to date back to the 5th century, the stupa is instantly recognizable by its massive white dome and the Buddha's all-seeing eyes painted on all four sides of the central tower. It remains one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Tibetan Buddhists and serves as the spiritual center of Kathmandu's Tibetan community. Walking clockwise around the stupa alongside monks and pilgrims while spinning prayer wheels provides a meaningful introduction to Tibetan Buddhist traditions before entering Tibet.

The tour then continues to Budhanilkantha Temple, located at the foot of Shivapuri National Park. This revered Hindu temple is famous for its remarkable stone statue of Lord Vishnu reclining on the cosmic serpent Ananta within a sacred pond. The temple attracts devotees throughout the year and offers a peaceful setting away from the busy city center.

Later, visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Nepal's most important historical landmarks. Once the royal palace complex of the Malla and Shah kings, the square features beautifully carved temples, ancient courtyards, traditional Newari architecture, and the historic Hanuman Dhoka Palace. You will also see the residence of the Living Goddess Kumari, an important cultural tradition unique to the Kathmandu Valley.

After enjoying an early breakfast at your hotel, your Kailash Mansarovar Yatra officially begins with a scenic overland drive toward the Nepal–Tibet border region. Our experienced trekking guide and support staff will assist you in loading your luggage and preparing for the road journey. Today’s destination will be Timure, a Tibetan-Nepal Border Town in Nepal. Route Overview • Distance: Approximately 145 km from Kathmandu to Timure • Driving Time: 6–8 hours (depending on weather and traffic) • Altitude Gain: Kathmandu (1,400 m) → Dhunche (1,950 m) → Timure(1,450 m)

After breakfast at your hotel in Syabrubesi (or Timure), your Kailash Mansarovar Yatra continues as we begin the short drive toward the Rasuwagadhi border, the official entry point into Tibet (China). This marks a major milestone as you prepare to set foot in the Tibetan Autonomous Region. Upon reaching Rasuwagadhi, a bustling trade town in northern Nepal, we complete all Nepalese immigration and customs formalities. You’ll then walk across the border bridge connecting Nepal and Tibet. On the other side, your Tibetan guide and driver will be waiting to receive you. After clearing Chinese immigration, we begin our short drive toward Kerung Town (also spelled Kyirong), your first overnight stop in Tibet. Kerung is nestled in a peaceful Himalayan valley and serves as the first acclimatization stop of the tour. Take it easy today to let your body begin adjusting to the higher elevations of the Tibetan Plateau. Short walks, hydration, and rest are highly encouraged.

Today marks a crucial acclimatization day during your Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, as we spend time in Kerung (Kyirong) Town, located at approximately 2,700 meters (8,858 feet) above sea level. This day allows your body to gradually adapt to higher elevations before we ascend to altitudes. Proper acclimatization reduces the risk of altitude sickness and ensures a safer, more enjoyable journey ahead. Activities You Can Enjoy in Kerung 1. Visit the Ancient Kyirong Monastery and Bhirkuti Cave Just 30 minutes from Kerung Town lies the sacred Kyirong Monastery, a 1,000-year-old Tibetan Buddhist monastery filled with historical, spiritual, and architectural significance. This serene site offers a peaceful atmosphere ideal for light exploration and reflection. Immerse Yourself in Local Tibetan Culture Engage with friendly locals, explore traditional Tibetan homes, and discover the unique customs and daily rituals of Himalayan Buddhism.

After breakfast in Kyirong, we drive toward Tibet’s highlands, stopping near Nyalam for a short but meaningful hike to the sacred Milarepa Cave. The two-hour walk passes through a Tibetan village, mani stones, and hillside paths leading to the cave, where a statue of the 11th-century yogi Milarepa rests in meditation. From here, views of the secluded Lapchi Valley unfold, long revered as a spiritual sanctuary. After this visit, we continue our journey through Dzongba (4,450m), passing vast plateaus, rivers, and nomadic camps before reaching Saga Town (4,640m), a key stop on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Dinner and overnight in Saga.

After breakfast in Saga, we begin the most spiritual leg of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra—our drive to the sacred Lake Mansarovar. Crossing the vast Barakha Plains, we pass scattered hamlets, yak herds, and nomadic camps before reaching Mayum La Pass (5,216m). From here, sweeping Himalayan views stretch across the horizon. Descending toward Horpa village, the first glimpse of Mount Kailash appears—majestic and serene, revered by Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Bon as the cosmic center of the universe. Soon, the turquoise waters of Lake Mansarovar (4,590m) come into view, reflecting the sacred peak in a breathtaking setting. On arrival, we complete a half circumambulation (Kora) of the lake by conservation vehicle, believed to cleanse sins and bestow blessings. The journey ends near Chu Gompa Monastery, on the western shore. With its tranquil setting, wide skies, and sacred energy, it’s an ideal place to rest, enjoy a Tibetan meal, and prepare for the Kailash Kora ahead.

Today marks a deeply spiritual day on your Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Begin with a ritual bath in the turquoise waters of Lake Mansarovar, believed to cleanse sins and purify the soul. Many pilgrims also collect the sacred water as a divine keepsake. Optional special pujas or Hawan ceremonies can be arranged with a Hindu Pandit or Tibetan Lama upon request, lasting 1–2 hours. Afterward, visit Chiu Gompa Monastery (4,590m), perched on a rocky hill with panoramic views of the lake and surrounding peaks—a serene spot for reflection. Post-lunch, drive to Darchen (4,575m), the base camp for Mount Kailash and starting point for the Kailash Kora. Settle into a luxury hotel with modern amenities, including oxygen support and heating, for a restful preparation. Time and regulations permitting, you may take an optional excursion to Ashtapad, the sacred site in Jainism where Lord Rishabhdev attained liberation, surrounded by eight symbolic mountains.

After early breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive from Darchen to Yamadwar, covering approximately 20KM. The drive takes about one hour and sets the tone for the start of your sacred Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Upon arrival at Yamadwar, the gateway to the holy circumambulation, your Kailash Kora (Parikrama) trek officially begins. This revered spiritual journey around the base of Mount Kailash is a profound pilgrimage cherished by Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and Bon followers alike. Today’s trek covers about 5 hours along a well-marked trail. As you walk, marvel at breathtaking views of the iconic Mount Kailash, whose majestic pyramidal peak dominates the horizon. Along the route, you’ll encounter numerous Buddhist chortens and stupas, standing as silent guardians and places of meditation for pilgrims. Diraphuk is perched at an altitude of 4,890 meters. Here, you’ll rest in a guesthouse, sharing stories with fellow pilgrims and preparing your body for the challenges ahead.

Today is one of the toughest yet most rewarding days of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra as you cross Dolma La Pass (5,630m), the highest point of the pilgrimage. After breakfast in Diraphuk, begin with a gentle walk of about an hour, reaching the wooden bridge that marks the divide between the inner and outer Kora routes. Taking the outer Kora, the trail climbs steeply, lined with cairns, prayer flags, and sacred offerings left by generations of pilgrims. The final push is demanding, but at the summit of Dolma La you are rewarded with sweeping views of Mount Kailash’s north and east faces. From here, descend into the Lam Chu Valley, stopping at the sacred Gauri Kund, a glacial pond revered in Hindu tradition. The final stretch eases into a flatter trail leading to Zuthulphuk, a village known for the miracle cave of Milarepa, where his footprints remain visible on the ceiling. Overnight in simple lodges here, surrounded by the profound energy of this sacred site.

Today is the final day of your sacred Kailash Kora pilgrimage. You will begin early with a peaceful trek back towards Darchen, hiking through a broad valley dotted with numerous Mani prayer walls — sacred stone walls inscribed with Buddhist prayers and mantras, which fill the air with spiritual energy. The trail gently follows the valley, eventually reaching a narrow gorge near the Karnali River, which flows westward into Nepal. As you near Darchen, the path veers westward for the last stretch of the Parikrama (circumambulation), culminating in a dramatic exit from the river valley onto the expansive plain. Upon completing your trek, you will board a comfortable drive for a long but scenic drive to Saga Town. The journey takes approximately 7 to 8 hours, offering stunning views of the Tibetan Plateau’s vast landscapes, rugged mountains, and remote settlements.

After an early breakfast at your Hotel in Saga, we will begin our journey back towards the Nepal-Tibet border. Today, we will retrace our steps, driving towards either Kyarung or Nyalam, depending on the route. The scenic drive takes approximately 6 to 7 hours and includes passing by the beautiful Pelku Tso (Pelku Lake). As you approach Kyirong, you’ll experience a noticeable change in climate and scenery, with warmer temperatures and greener surroundings welcoming you. Kyirong is an important commercial hub for the Nepali business community. Known as a key gateway for importing goods from China into Nepal, Kyirong offers a wide variety of shops selling everything, including souvenirs and Tibetan handicrafts. This is the perfect place for some last-minute shopping to pick up high-quality Chinese products at affordable prices. Whether you want to buy keepsakes to remember your Kailash Mansarovar Yatra or practical items for your journey, Kyirong’s markets provide an opportunity.

Today marks the final leg of your incredible Kailash Mansarovar Yatra as you leave Tibet behind and return to Nepal. After heartfelt goodbyes to your Tibetan guide and driver—who have been your steadfast companions throughout this spiritual journey—you will begin the drive back to Kathmandu in a private jeep. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, a special farewell dinner will be arranged at a traditional Nepali restaurant.
