Perched on top of the steep cliffs of Pointe du Hoc, the story of the D-Day takes on a striking dimension. This strategic headland, located between Utah and Omaha Beach, was home to important German batteries threatening Allied troops. On June 6, 1944, US Army Rangers heroically climbed over 30 metres of cliffs under heavy fire to neutralize the enemy position — an act of bravery that was critical to the success of D-Day. Today, the site remains deeply marked by these events: gaping craters, ripped bunkers and a memorial dedicated to Rangers testify to the sacrifice made.
