Departing from Underberg or Himeville, your adventure begins in a specially equipped 4×4 vehicle as we travel towards the legendary Sani Pass. Following the Mkomazana River through the dramatic Sani Valley, you'll pass sandstone cliffs, mountain streams, waterfalls, and rolling grasslands that form part of the UNESCO-listed uKhahlamba-Drakensberg World Heritage Site. As the road climbs higher, your guide will share fascinating insights into the region's history, geology, wildlife, and the unique relationship between South Africa and Lesotho. After completing border formalities at the summit, we cross into the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho and continue beyond Sani Top into the remote highlands, where vast alpine landscapes and traditional mountain communities await.

Beyond the border, the journey continues deeper into Lesotho, far beyond the areas visited on standard Sani Pass tours. Rolling highland grasslands, grazing livestock, winding mountain roads, and traditional stone homesteads create a landscape unlike anywhere else in Southern Africa. The Basotho Pony Riding Experience offers the opportunity to explore scenic mountain trails on the famous sure-footed Basotho ponies, a traditional form of transport that has been used for generations.
