Crossing the Carpathian Mountains you will arrive in Transylvania. Visit in the mountain village Bran the famous Dracula Castle from the 14th century. Discover the interesting history of the castle and learn more about Vlad the Impaler and the Dracula legend.

An enchanting start of the day with a tour of the medieval town founded by the German Saxons in the 12th century, Brasov. Visit the beautifully preserved landmark of Brasov, The Black Church, modelled after the famous Saint Sebaldus Church from Nurnberg. The Black Church is the largest gothic church between Istanbul and Vienna and houses an impressive collection of Anatolian carpets. Discover the rest of the The Old Town, The Black Tower, The White Tower, Ecaterina’s Gate and Rope’s Street, the third-narrowest street in Europe.

Visit this morning the most famous monasteries of Bucovina, the Voronet Monastery and the Moldovita Monastery. Built in just three months and three weeks in the 15th century, Voronet is known as “The Sistine Chapel of the East”. Its dominant color is blue, a vibrant cerulean color created from lapis lazuli and other ingredients.

The Moldovita Monastery was built in the 16th century as a fortification. Enjoy the explanations of one of the nuns, who will present you the frescoes “Siege of Constantinople” and “the Last Judgment”.

Cross the Carpathian Mountains through the Prislop Pass (1416m) and arrive in Maramures, which is famous for its hand-built ancient wooden churches, traditional music and colorful costumes. Visit here the wooden church Bogdan Voda and then continue to Sighetul Marmatiei.

After breakfast visit the unique “Merry Cemetery” from Sapanta. This place is famous for the colourfully painted wooden crosses that adorn the tombstones.

Afterwards travel via Baia Mare to Cluj Napoca, the largest city of Transylvania. A guided tour in Cluj Napoca brings you to the Union Square, where you will visit the impressive Catholic Church St. Michael and where you will see the Statue of Hungarian King, Matthias Corvinus.

Today you head to Sighisoara, one of the few still inhabited medieval citadels in Europe. Enjoy a walking tour in the fairy tale like Old Town with cobblestones, 9 towers, artillery bastions and pretty houses. Entering the citadel you pass under the massive Clock Tower from the 13th century, and then you visit the birth house of count Dracula with wooden staircases which lead to the Lutheran Church on the top of the hill.

Visit today Transylvania’s cultural gem, Sibiu. The European Capital of Culture 2007 is one of the first German settlements in Transylvania dating back to 12th century. Here were established the country’s first hospital, school, and pharmacy. The walking tour starts at the Grand Square, where you can see the City Hall, the Council Tower, the Catholic Church, and the Brukenthal Museum. The guide will take you to the Small Square, the Liar’s Bridge and the Lutheran Church.

Enjoy some time at leisure in the medieval town. In the evening drive to Sibiel, a small mountain village near Sibiu, where you visit the Museum of Icons on Glass, and later, enjoy a traditional dinner at the locals.
