Described by Mandeka as a'gilded cage, his time at this prison was a combination of luxury and confinement. Mandela was not given a cell while being in prison here, but a comfortable Villa, with numerous bedrooms, a swimming pool, a personal chef and a view of the breathtaking Drakenstein Mountains This was his last imprisonment, before he became a free man in February 1990. The Sexwhale family foundation commissioned a Long walk to Freedom statue on honor of Nelson Mandela
